Matteo PAGLIARI

Matteo Pagliari (Parma 1974) studied Pianoforte with Mario Borciani and Orchestra Conducting with Gilberto Serembe (one of the last discilpes of Franco Ferrara) and Pietro Veneri. He also studied with Neil Thomson, Eliahu Inbal, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli and Isaac Karabtchevsky. He has been Artistic Director and Conductor of the Coro «Città di Parma» from 1998 to 2001 and in this capacity he worked with the Orchestra Sinfonica dell’Emilia Romagna «A. Toscanini».

 

Assistant Conductor of both Roberto Abbado and Riccardo Frizza has worked for many institutions, both symphonic and operatic, among which it should be reminded at least Spoleto Festival (Macbeth), Maggio Musicale, Rai, Teatro Real de Madrid (Tancredi). In September 2005 he’s been the winner of the 2nd Prize (the highest prize then awarded) at the 5th edition of the «Vakhtang Jordania International Conducting Competition» - Kharkov (UA), in 2006 he was the only italian invited to the Semifinals of the «A. Pedrotti» International Conducting Competition - Trento and in 2008 he won the 2nd prize in the «Concurso International Jesus Lopez Cobos» announced by the Teatro Real – Madrid.

 

He has been principal conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Perú (Lima) during the season 2009-2010, with this orchestra he gave nearly thirty concerts, conducting a high number of classical and romantic masterworks (among wich the Brahms’ complete Symphonies and a succesfull “Beethoven Cicle”), and first executions in Peru` of music by Nielsen, Prokofiev, Busoni, amog others. He worked with soloists like Juan Diego Florez, Daniela Barcellona, Gregory Kunde, Patrizia Ciofi, among others. He’s also been professor of conducting technique at the Scuola dell’Opera of Teatro Comunale in Bologna during three years (2008 to 2010).

In october 2012 he published a book, entitled «Invenzione a due voci - Una conversazione con Glenn Gould» (Bologna: Albisani Editore 2012), an «interview» in wich Matteo Pagliari and the great canadian pianist discuss about technology, aestethics and ethics in music. Regular guest in Lima (Festival “Alejandro Granda”, Asociación Romanza, Orquesta Sinfónica Naciona´l), he also conducts for important institutions in Italy and Europe (Parma Verdi Festival, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Belgrad Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, Orquesta Sinfónica de Extremadura, National Theater of Albania, Opera de Tenerife).
